What to expect!

Messy Church is an interactive, all-age church service especially suitable for children and families.  We are now offering Messy Church across all of our three churches.
In June, Messy Church will run from 3pm-4pm in a new Covid-safe way at:
  • St Peter's Church on Sunday 13th June
  • St John's Church on Sunday 20th June.
The session is repeated, so just book for one of them!
Each session caters for a maximum of 8 family/household groups.

You MUST book for each service you attend.  When you book, we will send you a registration form, which you can fill out in advance, or on the day.  If you attend subsequent services, you will just be asked if there are any changes to your registration form.

You can come in through the main door, and you will be shown to a table set out for your group.  You will need to stay at your table throughout the service.  If you’d like to bring a book or toy for your child to look at while other families are being seated, this is fine.

At your table will be everything you need for the Messy Church crafts and activities.  These will have been cleaned or quarantined before use.  There will be instructions sheets telling you what to do, guidance from the service leader, and volunteers on hand to help if you get stuck!  There is no race to finish all the activities suggested – go at the pace that suits you and your children.

The final 15 minutes of Messy Church will be our celebration service.  You will stay at your table to take part in action songs, storytelling and prayers.  Only the service leader and under 5s may sing, but there will be opportunity for everyone to join in actions and dancing if they would like to.

Toilets are available in church, along with baby changing facilities.  We are unable to serve refreshments at the moment, but you are welcome to bring your own refreshments for you and your little ones to consume at any point.

After the service is finished, we will ask you to pack away leftover craft items, and pack your own creations ready to take home.

We realise keeping apart may feel strange, and that very little ones will not understand social distancing.  We ask that you follow these guidelines to the best of your ability.

When you are ready to leave, you can do so via the main door.  Let us know before you go if you’d like to book for another Messy Church!
