There is always something happening at KWTM ... here are a few highlights but please check out our Facebook page for the latest news!
Holy Innocents' Rocks at 80!
We have launched our new decorated rock garden at Holy Innocents' Church to mark the 80th anniversary of the dedication of the church. We're inviting anyone who wants to join in to decorate a rock and add it to the garden. Many are painted, some are covered with crochet and one is even wearing a knitted jacket! We were excited to have our garden featured on BBC Hereford and Worcester Radio, and Midlands Today.
Goodbye to James
On 24th June we said goodbye to Rev James and his family as he leaves us to take up a role leading a new Resource Church in Dudley. It's been great having James work with us in the Kidderminster West Team this past year, and we will miss him, but wish him every blessing in his new role.
Organ recital and afternoon tea
We enjoyed a brilliant organ recital from St John's organist Ian Thompson with a very varied programme, followed by a delicious afternoon tea.
We had a wonderful confirmation service led by Bishop Robert on Sunday 3rd June with three people being confirmed. The service of the theme was the light of Christ and Bishop Robert reminded us that light always overcomes darkness. Hallelujah!
We had a great time delving deeper into the beattitudes during our lent course based on the Pilgrm course.
A fabulous concert at St John’s Church, with the Swansea Bay Singleton Singers and St John’s School Choir was held at St john's. A fantastic evening was had by all!
And a superb afternoon tea as well just before Mothers Day!
To help us celebrate Epiphany, (the visitation of the magi to the baby Jesus), Father
Tim dressed up as a camel! He was joined by madam mayor and our local councillor
as they led a procession from the local park to The Holy Innocents' church to remind
us of the journey the magi took. We were also joined by drummers, some wise women,
stars, incense and kids dressed up as characters from the Christmas story.
It was a sight to behold!
We also celebrated during the day with activities for all ages, including circus tricks,
sing a long with Ryan, lantern making and drumming. It was a fab day and wonderfiul
to see our church at the heart of the community and the community at the heart of our church.
Advent and Christmas
Our advent and Christmas season was busy but lots of fun as we celebrated the promise of Christ's coming into the world and then His birth. Here are a few of the highlights!
The Kidderminster West Team is very proud of congregation members Pete and Kathy Jezukiewicz (St Peter’s Church) and Heather Prangley (Holy Innocents’ Church) who were recognised in the September Community Awards Ceremony at Kidderminster Town Hall hosted by Nicky Gale, Mayor of Kidderminster. They are well-deserved awards, as each of those named makes a great contribution to community life in their areas of Kidderminster. Well done Pete, Kathy and Heather!
Connect Youth Club
On 3rd October 2017 we re-launched Connect, the youth club that meets at St John’s. The club meets weekly during term time and offers the children a space to have fun, meet their friends and learn new skills. They have been competing in space hopper races, painting pet stones, icing cakes, playing table football, making their own display…and we have lots of plans for the future. We also have a space each week to talk to the children on a theme of faith, and to try and answer their questions about God and the church. There are usually around 25 children attending and it is loud and lively. If you think you might be interested in helping (subject to DBS), please get in touch!
